A color based on the Airborne commemorated every September on the Ginkelse Heide...
The Airborne parachute jumps in September are an annual commemoration of Operation Market Garden, a major military operation of the Second World War. We painted this strand onto the official flag logo of the Airborne.
In September 1944, thousands of Allied paratroopers (including the British, Americans, and Poles) jumped from planes over Gelderland and North Brabant. Their goal was to quickly capture the bridges over the major rivers, so that the ground army could advance directly into Germany via those bridges and end the war quickly. The landing on the Ginkelse Heide near Ede was a crucial part of this. Although the operation ultimately failed because the bridge at Arnhem could not be held, we commemorate the courage of these liberators with this every year.
Some general information about a skein of Veluwsch Verfgoed Sock:
- 1 skein contains 80 meters of yarn
- The yarn consists of 75% superwash wool and 25% nylon
- Extremely suitable for making socks, for example, but this superwash yarn is actually suitable for all kinds of knitting and crocheting.
- Gauge is 28 stitches x 36 rows = 10 x 10 cm
- Suitable for knitting needles/crochet hooks 2.5mm - 4.0mm
- This yarn is hand-dyed. This makes each skein unique and slightly different in color. The colors and skeins shown are therefore indicative and may vary slightly in reality due to screens that distort colors.
- After fixing, the yarn is hand-washed with a high-quality wool detergent. You can expect the yarn to hardly bleed when it comes into contact with water. However, with dark or bright colors, some colored water may still appear. Don't worry about this.
- The washing instructions for this yarn are a maximum of 30°C on a wool wash cycle in the machine. Never tumble dry or wash products made with this yarn at a hotter temperature to prevent felting. Never use fabric softener, but always choose a wool detergent. - The yarn is super soft and provides perfect stitch definition with a beautiful sheen.
- Skeins dyed with multiple colors create a mottled effect when used, while skeins dyed with semi-solid colors have a relatively even gradient. It's always possible that even in a semi-solid color, a hint of white can appear. This is sometimes unavoidable during the manual dyeing process. However, in practice, it's usually not disruptive to the work.
- Each skein is wound and labeled by hand. Therefore, not every skein may look "perfect." This is a conscious choice, and it simply indicates that your skein has been crafted with love and care.
